How can we help?

A studio in your browser that reads a recording and writes it out: staff notation for each part, chords on a timeline, Sargam, and separated parts you can play back. You can correct anything it gets wrong.

Matra is invitation-only during the private beta. Request an invite and tell us what you play — we read every request and reply by email.

A recent browser on a laptop, desktop or phone. A larger screen makes editing easier; headphones help when you check notes by ear.

Not blindly. Analysis can be wrong — notes, chords, key and rhythm. Check it against your recording by ear before you rely on it, and correct what you hear.

For Indian music, the Sa (tonic) shown is a suggestion. Confirm it or change it, because every Sargam name depends on it.

Matra finds the beat, tempo and bars for most songs; songs it cannot count are shown in free time. Open Bars in the Studio to halve or double the tempo, change the meter, or set where bar 1 starts.

About as long as the song itself — a 4-minute song takes roughly 4 minutes. You can leave the page and come back.

Up to 8 minutes and 50 MB. MP3, WAV, M4A (AAC) and WebM (Opus) are accepted; FLAC and Ogg Vorbis are not yet.

MP3, WAV, M4A (AAC) or WebM (Opus), up to 50 MB and 8 minutes per recording. FLAC and Ogg Vorbis files are not accepted yet — convert them to MP3 or WAV first.

One song per file, clear sound, little background noise and not too much reverb. A phone recording works if the instrument or voice is close to the microphone.

Only audio you own or have permission to use. Rights holders can reach us at takedown@matra.studio.

It depends on the recording and the music. Notes, rhythm, chords, key and Sargam can be incomplete or wrong, so check passages by ear against your recording before you use or share a chart.

Open the part and choose Sa. Matra then shows that part as Sa Re Ga Ma beside the staff. You can change Sa at any time.

Those are chords Matra wasn’t sure about. Click one to hear it and see what else it heard, then keep it or pick another. Every change is saved as a version in History.

Matra splits the recording into bass, drums, vocals and other. Mute or solo each one, or switch back to the original recording.

Drag the note to the right pitch or timing. Your edits change the chart, never the original recording.

Yes. Every save is kept in History, so you can compare and return to an earlier version.

MusicXML for notation software, MIDI with notes and tempo, PDF sheets (notation, chords or Sargam), and the separated parts as WAV, FLAC or M4A.

Yes. Recordings stay in your private Library for playback and editing, and we never use your audio to train AI. We do use your corrections and your songs’ analysis (not audio), separated from your account, to improve Matra’s engines. You can turn that off in Account › Privacy. Details in the Privacy Policy.

Yes — delete it yourself from your Library at any time. No need to contact us.

Go to Account settings → Delete account. Your account closes right away and everything is deleted within about an hour, except invitation records (which include your email address), processing-cost records, and corrections already separated from your account for training (no audio, no link to you).
