Matra Studio — Privacy Policy

Matra Studio ("Matra", "we") turns music recordings into chord charts and notation. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Account data. If you create an account, your email address and a password (stored hashed by our auth provider). Anonymous use requires no account and collects no email.
- Profile data you provide. Optional display name, username, instrument, interests, and avatar image.
- Recordings you import. The audio file you upload is used only to produce your chord chart, and is deleted from our servers immediately after processing completes. We do not keep your master recording. We derive an acoustic fingerprint (a non-reversible hash) that lets us recognise the same recording without storing the audio.
- Charts and edits. The generated chords, key, tempo, melody, your corrections, and song metadata (title/artist you enter or that we match from public catalogues).
- Usage + diagnostics. Basic technical logs (timestamps, error traces, cost accounting) needed to operate and debug the service.
How we use it
- To transcribe your recordings and store your charts in your library.
- To improve accuracy: a corrected chart for a widely-released recording may be reused to serve other users the same corrected chart. We share musical facts (key, chord symbols) — never your audio and never your personal data.
- To operate, secure, and bill the service.
Third parties
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (hosting our backend).
- Modal — serverless compute that runs the transcription.
- Anthropic (Claude) — used to verify/correct chords for released recordings from public web sources. We send the song title/artist and the detected chords, not your audio.
- Apple — payments and subscriptions (Apple is the merchant of record).
- Apple iTunes Search API — public album-art and artist metadata lookup by title.
We do not sell your personal data.
Your choices
- Delete everything. Settings → Delete account permanently erases your account, charts, edits, and any stored data, including for anonymous users. This is immediate and irreversible.
- Export. Contact support@matra.studio to request a copy of your data.
- Access / correction. Contact support@matra.studio.
Retention
Charts and profile data are kept until you delete them. Uploaded audio is deleted right after processing. Diagnostic logs are retained for a limited operational window.
Children
Matra is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region).
