Comparison · honest

A Chordify alternative built on honesty.

Chords you can trust — because it tells you when it can't.

Chordify is great for finding a song's chords fast. Where Matra differs: it works on the audio you bring, marks how sure it is about every chord, adds real staff notation and a sargam view, and charges Tokens instead of a subscription. One honest limit up front — Matra can't give you a library of famous-song chords; it charts what you record or upload.

When Chordify is the better pick

  • You want to look up the chords of famous songs from a ready-made library — Matra doesn't host one.
  • You mostly play along and don't need real notation.
  • You prefer a flat monthly subscription to pay-per-use.

Honesty is the product — if another tool fits your job better, use it.

Questions, answered

Can I get the chords of a famous song?

Matra works on audio you have — your own playing, your recordings, your practice takes. We don't host or publish transcriptions of copyrighted songs. If you can play it or record it, Matra can chart it.

What does it cost?

Right now — nothing. Matra is free during early access (fair use: about 20 recordings a day), and every file still shows its real Token price so there are no surprises later. The meter: about 1 Token per 15 seconds, a typical 3½-minute recording ≈ ◇14. When billing starts, early-access musicians keep ◇600 — plus half price for 3 months and 25% off the rest of their first year. Sargam and notation views cost nothing, ever.

Is my audio private?

Yes. Uploads are private by default, nothing you make is published anywhere, and we never train on your audio.

How accurate is it?

Chords and key are our strongest outputs and carry per-chord confidence so you always know what to trust. Staff notation is early access — honest but imperfect today, and improving as the engine trains on more recordings.

Built with the musicians who use it.

Matra is in early access. Fix a chord or a note the engine got wrong, and we gift you Tokens as thanks — your ear makes the engine better for everyone.
